When is the best time to buy Meta clicks in Q4?
If there is one line to plan Q4 around, it is this : the sooner you buy the click, the more money it makes by the time the year closes.
In 2025, ROAS on October Meta clicks rose 70% as later purchases landed, from 0.82 in October to 1.40 by year end. BFCM clicks closed their four day window at 0.85, then kept settling: 1.07 by mid December, 1.18 by year end. Early December and Holiday Shopping clicks never reached break even, finishing at 0.96 and 0.88.

Turn it into a planning number: the settle multiplier
Every click window carries a settle multiplier, the gap between what it reads in-window and what it settles to by December 31. October clicks carry a 1.71x settle multiplier. BFCM clicks carry a 1.38x. That means a 0.85 BFCM reading during the sale weekend is on pace, not a failure. It is a 0.85 that becomes 1.18.
Read the other way, the multiplier is a warning about December. Clicks bought in the second half of December have almost no runway left in the year to settle, so what you see in-window is close to all you get. That is why they finish underwater.
Why the lag is human behavior, not a tracking problem
This is human behavior, not a measurement artifact. Shoppers have carts loaded and know the sale is coming, so they click now and wait for the discount code to buy. The purchase lands days or weeks after the click. In-platform windows close in that gap, which is why they show you a scary in-window number and then move on.
If you judged October or BFCM spend on the ROAS your platform showed you in the moment, you would have cut winners. Click-level attribution with an unlimited lookback window changes the decision, not just the report.
Two moves it supports for Q4 2026
Shift acquisition budget earlier into October, where the settle multiplier is highest. And do not run the BFCM postmortem early. Grade BFCM on the settled view or you will cut channels that were still converting.
