Every Q4 you watch your Meta cost per click climb, and every Q4 you wonder whether the BFCM premium is worth paying. Here is the 2025 answer, with the numbers.
October CPC ran $1.09. It rose to $1.21 pre-BFCM as political ad spend and early promotions crowded the auction. Then BFCM CPC peaked at $1.62, up 49% over October. In December it dropped back to earth: $1.17 in early December and $1.08 in late December, below the October price.
A 49% price hike sounds like a reason to pull back. But CPC only tells you what you paid to get the click. It says nothing about what the click returned. And on the return side, BFCM behaves very differently from its price tag.
BFCM delivered the lowest first-month CAC of any window in Q4. As delayed conversions landed, BFCM clicks settled to a $179 CAC, the lowest of any cohort. That is the promos doing the work. People take the deal, so a lot of them convert quickly and pull the cost down fast.
The catch is that a low CAC on day one of a promo window tells you people took the deal. It does not tell you the spend was profitable. Whether it paid off depends on what those customers do next, which is exactly what most attribution windows never see.
Do not judge the BFCM premium on CPC alone, and do not judge it on the four day snapshot. Pair the cost curve with the settled numbers that land in the weeks after: new customer acquisition cost and new customer lifetime value by click window. That is the only pairing that tells you whether a 49% more expensive click bought you a customer worth keeping.
Priced this way, the BFCM click can absolutely earn its premium. It just does it after BFCM, not during.

BFCM CPC peaked at $1.62 in 2025, up 49% over October's $1.09, then fell to $1.17 in early December and $1.08 in late December.
It can be. BFCM delivered the lowest settled first-month CAC of any Q4 window at $179, but a low in-window CAC only shows people took the deal. Profitability depends on settled nCAC and nLTV.
The gap between a window's in-window reading and its settled value by December 31. October clicks carry a 1.71x ROAS settle multiplier and BFCM clicks a 1.38x.
