If you’re using Wicked Reports, you most likely want to track the ROI of your Facebook ads.
Before you can do that, you need to set up Facebook ad tracking on each individual ad.
Sounds labor intensive, I know what you’re thinking.
We recently came out with our “Facebook Ad Validator”.
Facebook Ad Validator
Our Facebook Ad Validator serves two main purposes.
- Shows you if your ads have tracking on them
- Allows you to update your individual Facebook ads with tracking after clicking a few buttons
Before the Facebook Ad Validator was released, you had to manually (and painfully) update each individual ad inside of your Facebook account.
Updating 20 ads could take you 45 minutes.
As we mentioned, you can now update those 20 ads (or hundreds of ads) in seconds.
To update your Facebook ads with tracking, simply log into your Wicked Reports account and go to the “Extras -> FB Ad Validator.”
Once here, you can select your campaigns from the dropdown menu. Select the campaign you’d like to look at, and hit “Get Live FB Ads”.
Once your ads load, you’ll see all of the individual ads in each campaign.
To update the ads, simply check the box next to the ones you want to update, and then click on the green “Update FB Ad URL Params” button.
Once you click on that, you have 3 options:
- Wicked IDs and UTMs
For most of you, you’ll want to choose option #1, WickedIDs.
If you choose this option, we will place tracking in the “URL Params” field for each one of your Facebook ads, using WickedIDs. For more info on WickedIDs, click here.
Option # 2 will allow you to update the “URL Params” field with just UTMs.
Why would you choose this option?
You’d want to choose UTMs when you DO NOT want to use WickedIDs for whatever reason, and would like to track and report based on the UTMs alone. For most people, this is not the best option, but there is no harm in using it if you know WHY you’re using it.
Option # 3 is a good choice if you’d like Wicked Reports to report on WickedIDs and you’d also like UTMs in your links for reporting inside Google Analytics.
We will give priority to WickedIDs and report on them inside of Wicked Reports (and not the UTMs), soany UTMs added to the end of links for tracking purposes will be for your benefit only.
If you’re unsure of which option to choose, just choose option #1, WickedIDs. That is what 99% of our customers use without any issue.
Once you hit “Yes” and tell us to update all of your Facebook ads with tracking, no matter what option you’ve chosen, Wicked Reports will push the tracking parameters to Facebook.
What does this mean?
It means your Facebook ads now have tracking!
**NOTE: You DO need to have the Wicked Tracking Script on all of your pages, order forms, pop ups, opt-ins etc. For more info on how to get your Wicked Tracking Script on your pages, click here.
As you can see below, the “Wicked Validation” column now reads “Correct” and is green. This means you’ve got tracking on your ads.
Now you know how to use the Facebook Ad Validator right inside Wicked Reports!
Using it will save you time and ensure that all of your ads have the correct tracking.
